Community Awards

The Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce Community Awards recognize meaningful contributions that strengthen our community.

Important: These awards are not popularity contests or public votes. Nominations are evaluated based on the quality, impact, and context of each contribution — not the number of nominations received.

Which award should I nominate for?

Business of the Year

Choose this award if the contribution comes from operating a business — such as job creation, innovation, ethical leadership, or reinvestment in the community.

Civic Leadership Award

Choose this award if the contribution comes from civic or volunteer leadership beyond employment or profit.

Business of the Year Award

The Business of the Year Award recognizes a Warrensburg Chamber member business for leadership and community impact achieved through operating a business.

This may include job creation or job stability, ethical business practices, innovation, growth or adaptation, and reinvestment in the local community.

Evaluation lens: Community impact achieved through business leadership.

Eligibility & fairness

  • Nominee must be a current Chamber member
  • Evaluated in context of business size, industry, and years in operation
  • Financial scale alone is not a determining factor

Civic Leadership Award (formerly Citizen of the Year)

The Civic Leadership Award recognizes an individual, couple, or organization for a specific civic or community contribution that has positively impacted Warrensburg.

This award honors leadership and service beyond employment or profit.

Evaluation lens: Community impact achieved through civic leadership and service.

What qualifies?

  • Volunteer or civic service that benefits the community
  • Contributions outside normal paid job responsibilities
  • Organizational efforts beyond core mission or profit base
  • Financial donations alone are not sufficient

About the nomination process

Nominations are reviewed by a committee using a consistent evaluation framework focused on contribution, leadership, and community benefit. Consideration is given to context and capacity.

Reminder: Submitting multiple nominations for the same nominee does not increase the likelihood of selection.
